Good Samaritans from Kampala Archdiocese participate in holy jubilee pilgrimage

The Good Samaritans representing all 73 Catholic parishes within Kampala Archdiocese gathered at Lubaga Cathedral to observe this year’s Holy Jubilee pilgrimage, in accordance with the guidance of the Catholic Church.

The pilgrim mass was presided over by His Grace Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere and was attended by a large congregation of Good Samaritans led by Mrs. Annet Katende, who serves as the division president for the archdiocese.

In his homily, Archbishop Ssemogerere praised the Good Samaritans for their unwavering commitment to love and generosity, especially towards vulnerable groups such as prisoners, the elderly, and those abandoned in care homes with various needs.

He also lauded the Institute of Good Samaritan Sisters of Nalukolongo for their dedicated work in caring for the needy.

The institute, founded in 1978 by the late Archbishop Emmanuel Cardinal Nsubuga, was established to foster a sense of belonging, love, and hope among the elderly and individuals with special needs who have been abandoned.

Mrs. Katende, the group’s president emphasized their role as a bridge connecting those in need with the benefactors who can assist, highlighting their mission to serve as a link between the well-off and the vulnerable.

Additionally, Prison’s Chaplain Fr. Joseph Ssentomero outlined various activities carried out by the Good Samaritans to support prisoners and their communities.
