Security forces, including the Uganda Police Force, UPDF, and SFC, have cordoned off the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters in Makerere-Kavule amid escalating tensions over the alleged abduction of Eddie Mutwe.
Today, NUP had organized a solidarity gathering at its headquarters, which was intended to be attended by various political parties.
However, security operatives raided the premises and denied access to supporters and visitors without providing any clear explanation.
Addressing journalists, Kasanda South Member of Parliament and NUP member Hon. Frank Kabuye condemned the security actions, criticizing them as unjustified against a fully registered political party.
Meanwhile, supporters of NUP who were prevented from entering the premises protested by holding up papers with messages calling for the release of all political prisoners detained by the government.
