FDC Chief Whip Yusufu Nsibambi to petition Electoral Commission over Voter Register Irregularities

FDC Chief Whip Yusufu Nsibambi

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Chief Whip in Parliament, Yusufu Nsibambi, has announced plans to petition the Electoral Commission over alleged irregularities in the national voters register, citing concerns that these issues could undermine the credibility of the 2026 general elections.

Speaking to journalists, Nsibambi expressed serious worries about the integrity of the voter registration process.

He revealed that over 600 polling stations were not officially gazetted after failing to submit their voter registers, a lapse he warns could deny many citizens their constitutional right to vote.

Additionally, Nsibambi accused the Electoral Commission of gazetting illegal polling stations, including 15 within his own constituency of Mawokota South.

He pointed out that some of these stations have suspiciously inflated voter numbers, allegedly to allow non-residents and fictitious individuals to cast votes.

He issued a stern warning to the Electoral Commission, demanding a review and cleaning of the national voters register and the addressing of these alleged malpractices.

Failure to do so, he stated, will compel him to pursue legal action to ensure electoral integrity.
