Former Police officer Sam Omala dead

The Uganda Police Force has confirmed the passing of retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Sam Omala, who died this morning

Omala had been battling serious health issues, including prostate cancer and kidney failure, and underwent dialysis at Mulago National Referral Hospital last year.

During his tenure, Omala served in various capacities, including as Kampala North Police Operations Commander, notably during the 2011 “walk-to-work” protests led by Dr. Kizza Besigye.

After retiring, he joined the private security sector as Deputy CEO of Arrow Security Services owned by Captain Mike Mukula the National Resistance Movement Eastern Region Vice President.

Police Spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke acknowledged Omala’s contributions to law enforcement, stating that his work will be greatly remembered.
