The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abbas Byakagaba has restructured the Land Protection Unit, transferring it from the Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID) to the Directorate of Legal and Human Rights. 

The unit will now be headed by Commissioner of Police James Kusemererwa, assisted by Assistant Commissioner of Police Musani Sabela.

According to Police Spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke, the restructuring aims to enhance the unit’s capacity to address legal and operational aspects of land disputes and conflicts. 

The goal is to create a one-stop center for handling all land-related cases and issues.
