The Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has revealed that the International Specialized Hospital of Uganda Lubowa will be completed by the end of 2025.

Aceng made the revelation while presenting the Ministry’s budget framework paper for the 2025/2026 financial year to the Parliamentary Committee on Health.

According to Aceng, construction of the 243-bed hospital, which began in 2019, has been delayed due to various reasons and so far over 600 billion shillings has been released by the Government for the project.

However, she assured the committee that construction is currently on course, with 45% physical progress achieved as of December 31st 2024.

The Minister also requested additional funding for various health-related initiatives including 1.5 billion shillings to supervise the Lubowa Hospital Project and ensure its timely completion, 3 billion shillings to procure new vehicles for the Health Service Commission and 17.6 billion shillings for ambulance maintenance and fuel among others.
