The Minister of State for Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs, Kabuye Kyofatogabye has implored the suppliers of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to ensure timely delivery of goods and services to avoid cancellation of their contracts.
He made the remarks at the ongoing KCCA Annual 4th Suppliers Conference in Kampala which brings together different suppliers of goods and services, Government agencies and development partners to discuss opportunities and challenges and how best to improve procurement processes.
He praised the suppliers for their patience despite some challenges encountered as they deliver their goods and services most especially the delayed payments, but however challenged them to ensure they produce timely and quality services which are able to empower communities.
Kyofatogabye also asked the contractors to utilize the local labour to bridge the gap on youth employment in the city and the country at large.
Meanwhile, the acting Executive Director of KCCA, Frank Rusa Nyakaana called for accountability and quality from the Authority’s suppliers and to ensure that their products are of good quality to enable KCCA to offer the best services to the city dwellers.
He also called for proper use of the goods and services from the different responsible departments of KCCA to avoid being spotted in corruption related scandals.
The conference is running under the theme; “Enhancing Social Inclusion in Public Procurement for a Sustainable City”.
