Our Lady and St. Jude Parish in Naguru, Kampala, is set to hold a nine-day St Jude Thaddeus Novena from October 19 to 27, 2026, ahead of the celebration of the Feast of St Jude Thaddeus on October 28.
The Novena will be held under the theme, “Consecrate us in the truth; your Word is truth” (John 17:17), inviting Christians to deepen their faith through prayer, reflection and renewed commitment to God’s Word.
The Bishop of Lira Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Santus Lino Wanok, will be the main celebrant at the feast day Mass on October 28.
Addressing journalists at the parish, the parish priest of Our Lady and St. Jude Parish, Naguru, Rev. Fr. Joseph Mary Bbuye, said the annual Novena is intended to deepen Christians’ understanding of and devotion to St Jude Thaddeus.
Fr. Bbuye called on Christians to participate actively in the nine-day spiritual programme, emphasising the importance of prayer and reflection as they prepare for the feast.
He encouraged the faithful to use the Novena as an opportunity to strengthen their relationship with God and grow spiritually as they seek the intercession of St Jude Thaddeus.
Meanwhile, Ritah Ocibe, the parish’s publicity head, announced that the parish will publish a Devotee Magazine to support the spiritual preparations for the celebration. The magazine will be sold at UGX 5,000.
According to Ocibe, the publication will feature accounts of miracles attributed to the intercession of St Jude Thaddeus, alongside the order of Mass for the feast day on October 28, 2026.
The nine-day Novena is expected to bring together devotees and other Christians for prayer and spiritual renewal, culminating in the feast day celebration in honour of St Jude Thaddeus, widely venerated in the Catholic Church as the patron saint of difficult and desperate cases.
