Kampala Metropolitan Police Arrest 58 Suspects in Crime Crackdown

Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested 58 suspects during a series of operations conducted across the metropolitan area between September 30 and October 1, 2026.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said the operations targeted identified crime-prone areas and individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activities.

In Kampala Central, police arrested 18 suspects in areas including Nakasero, Biwoloma, Nile Coach, Mini Price and Kisekka.

The suspects were detained at Central Police Station.

In Kitala Cell, Entebbe, seven suspects were arrested, with police reporting the recovery of suspected narcotic substances. Two of the suspects were allegedly caught attempting to break into a shop.

At Kisubi, 15 suspects were arrested in Bugiri-Kiwulwe following reports of cannabis use and distribution at Mwaalo Landing Site. Police said suspected cannabis seeds and rolled cannabis sticks were recovered during the operation.

Another 18 suspects were arrested in Kasangati, including four who were allegedly found in possession of suspected narcotic substances.

Owoyesigyire said all the suspects would be processed in accordance with the law.
