Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala

Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested more than 300 suspects in a three-day intelligence-led security operation aimed at combating crime ahead of the festive season.

The operations, conducted jointly with other security agencies on October 28, 29 and 30, 2026, targeted crime-prone areas and suspected criminal hideouts across the Kampala Metropolitan Area.

The crackdown covered several policing divisions, including Katwe, Central Police Station, Kabalagala, Wandegeya, Kira and Jinja Road.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Racheal Kawala said the operations primarily targeted suspected criminals, particularly individuals allegedly involved in drug and substance abuse, as well as activities associated with criminal gangs and networks.

She confirmed that several exhibits suspected to be connected to criminal activities were also recovered during the operations.

Kawala added that the suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue. They will undergo police screening before being processed and presented before court.

She urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The operation forms part of heightened security efforts by police and other security agencies to prevent crime and ensure public safety as the country approaches the festive season.
