Police Arrest Suspects Over Killings That Left Four Dead in Mubende

Police Spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke addressing the media at Police headquarters in Naguru

Police have arrested suspects in connection with a series of killings in Mubende District that have left four people dead and five others critically injured.

Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke confirmed the arrests during the force’s weekly security briefing on Monday but declined to provide further details, saying disclosing the information could compromise ongoing investigations.

The attacks have heightened fear among residents of Buwekula South Constituency, particularly in Kiteenga Sub-county and Kyenda Town Council, where security agencies are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incidents and identify those responsible.

The latest reported victim, Sharif Lubwama, 30, was reportedly found dead behind a mosque in Kyenda after spending his final hours at a local bar. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

In response to the killings, the government has deployed additional security personnel and investigators to the affected communities in an effort to restore calm, strengthen security and bring those responsible to justice.

Police have withheld further information about the suspects as investigations into the killings continue.
