Centenary Bank and the Uganda Premier League have entered into a Shs204 million sponsorship partnership aimed at promoting youth engagement in football and encouraging financial innovation within the sport.
The partnership was officially unveiled during a signing ceremony held at Centenary Bank headquarters, Mapera House, in Kampala, with the bank also taking on the role of official ticketing partner for the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Centenary Bank Managing Director Godfrey Byekwaso said the partnership was intended to transform lives through football and financial services, particularly by creating opportunities for young people.
Byekwaso noted that the bank serves approximately 38 per cent of young people involved in sports activities, underscoring the importance of investing in initiatives that connect youth development with financial inclusion.
He added that part of the sponsorship funds would go towards prize money, administration and media-related expenses to support the league’s activities and visibility.
Meanwhile, Shibah Ronah Ampairwe, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), commended Centenary Bank for supporting the league, saying the partnership had the potential to take Ugandan football to the next level.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen the relationship between football and financial services while supporting the growth and promotion of the Uganda Premier League.
