Democratic Front to Field Presidential Candidate in 2031 Elections

Samuel Lubega Mukaaku

The Opposition Democratic Front has announced plans to field a presidential candidate in the 2031 General Elections, saying the country needs credible political alternatives and a new national vision.

Speaking to the media at the party headquarters in Lungujja today, the party’s National Chairman and former presidential candidate, Samuel Lubega Mukaaku, said the decision follows what he described as a profound vacuum in credible political leadership and national vision.

Mukaaku said the party’s objective is not simply to put another name on the ballot, but to present leadership capable of providing direction and delivering meaningful change to Ugandans.

He said the party is looking for a candidate with the capacity to champion political reforms, democratic governance, economic transformation, national security, unity and reconciliation.

Mukaaku further said the Democratic Front is ready to work with individuals and groups across the country, regardless of their political affiliation, as well as cultural leaders and other stakeholders, in an effort to achieve what he described as the long-awaited change of power.
