The State Minister for Sports, Peter Ogwang, who represented the Minister of Education and Sports, Dr. John Chrysestom Muyingo, has been grilled over delays in appointing members to the Education Service Commission board.
The issue came to light after the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) discovered that the Education Service Commission is currently operating with only four of its six required board members.
Responding to the committee’s concerns, Minister Ogwang acknowledged the delay and said the ministry is in the process of identifying and nominating qualified candidates to fill the two vacant positions.
He explained that once the nomination process is completed, the names of the proposed candidates will be forwarded to Cabinet for consideration.
Ogwang said the candidates will subsequently undergo interviews before the successful nominees are formally appointed to the Education Service Commission.
