Police have arrested Christian Asiimwe, also known as Don Chris, over allegations of obtaining between Shs5 million and Shs10 million from individuals by falsely promising to secure jobs for them abroad.
Asiimwe, a former director of the now-defunct labour recruitment company Sky Pins, was arrested at about 2am on August 27, 2026, at a bar in Zana, Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Racheal Kawala said the suspect allegedly obtained money from several people between 2022 and 2025, claiming he could secure employment for them in Canada, the United Kingdom, Qatar, Dubai and other countries.
The jobs allegedly promised included positions as waiters, cleaners and caregivers.
Kawala said more than 500 alleged victims have so far recorded statements with police in connection with the case.
She said Asiimwe remains in police custody as investigations continue and will be taken to court in accordance with the law.
Kawala has urged members of the public to verify the legitimacy and licensing status of labour recruitment companies and agents before making payments or entering into recruitment arrangements.
