The NRM Electoral Commission has set September 3, 2026, as the polling date for the party’s flag bearer primary for the Adjumani West parliamentary by-election.

The seat fell vacant following the death of the incumbent, General Moses Ali.

According to the roadmap released by NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson Dr Tanga Odoi, the expression of interest exercise began today and will close on August 14.

Nomination of candidates will take place from August 17 to 18, followed by joint campaigns from August 20 to September 1. The party primary will be held on September 3.

Dr Odoi has warned non-Ugandans from neighbouring countries, including South Sudanese and Congolese nationals, against interfering in the NRM primary, stressing that only Ugandan nationals are eligible to participate.

The NRM roadmap comes after Electoral Commission Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama set September 17, 2026, as the date for the main parliamentary by-election.
