Police at Kira Road are appealing to the public for information that could help trace 10-year-old Dan Nelson Munanyaneza, a pupil at Cardinality Primary School in Kigowa-Ntinda, who went missing on July 26.
Police say Munanyaneza left his home in Kulambiro Zone, Nakawa Division, at around 8:00 a.m. after seeking permission from his mother to visit a friend and collect a book. He did not return home.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says efforts by the boy’s family and neighbours to locate him were unsuccessful, prompting them to report the matter to police.
Police have recorded statements, retraced possible routes the boy may have taken and reviewed CCTV footage, but have so far been unable to establish his whereabouts.
Owoyesigyire is appealing to anyone with information about Dan’s whereabouts to report to Kira Road Police Station or call 0740 441 520.
Meanwhile, police have launched a search for a woman suspected of abandoning a fetus in a latrine in Kamwokya.
Owoyesigyire says the fetus was estimated to be about seven months developed and was discovered in a latrine located on church premises.
Police recovered the fetus and conveyed it to Kira Road Police Station as investigations into the incident began.
The latrine is also used by a nearby clinic and members of the public, making it difficult for investigators to immediately establish who left the fetus there.
Police say investigations are ongoing to identify the woman and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
