The Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court in Wandegeya, Kampala, has committed Parliament’s Director of Communication and Public Affairs, Chris Obore, and six other parliamentary officials to the High Court for trial over charges of embezzlement, causing financial loss to government, and money laundering.

The accused appeared before Chief Magistrate Esther Assiimwe, with the prosecution led by Daisy Achiro and the defence represented by Counsel Asuman Basaalirwa.

Prosecution alleges that the offences were committed between January 2023 and May 2026 and involved billions of shillings.

According to the State, more than Shs19 billion was jointly acquired and allegedly disguised as personal loans, while more than Shs26 billion received for parliamentary donations and engagement activities allegedly resulted in financial loss to the government.

The case will return to court on August 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., before the court registrar for the fixing of a trial date.

Meanwhile, Stella Itute has been removed from the charge sheet after her lawyer told court that he had lost contact with her and was no longer representing her.

The accused are parliamentary officials who were interdicted on July 31, 2026, and remain on remand at Luzira Prison.
