Nsambya Babies Home Cares for 134 Children, Places 29 in Foster Families In a Year As Charity Walk Nears

Msgr. Charles Kasibante calling on Ugandans to participate in the fundraising event

Nsambya Babies Home has revealed that 134 children were cared for over the past year, with 29 babies successfully placed in foster families as part of efforts to ensure vulnerable children receive proper care, protection, and a stable family environment.

The development comes as preparations intensify for the 4th Nsambya Babies Home Charity Walk, with Msgr. Charles Kasibante calling on Ugandans to participate in the fundraising event aimed at supporting initiatives that improve the lives of abandoned and vulnerable children.

Speaking to the media at Nsambya Babies Home, Msgr. Kasibante said proceeds from the Charity Walk will help the institution continue providing healthcare services, tracing families of abandoned children, reuniting them with relatives where possible, and supporting their safe reintegration into families and communities.

The Charity Walk is scheduled for 25 July 2026 under the theme “Walk for the Children.”

Msgr. Kasibante further disclosed that, in addition to placing 29 babies in foster families, the Home successfully reunited 63 children with their biological families during the same period. He said the achievement highlights the importance of promoting family-based care for children in vulnerable situations.

Meanwhile, the Home Administrator, Rev. Sr. Teddy Nakyanzi, urged families whose children go missing to regularly visit children’s homes to check whether their loved ones may have been admitted there.

She stressed that no child should remain in institutional care when a safe and suitable family environment is available, noting that every child deserves the love, care, protection, and sense of belonging that comes with growing up in a family.

Several organizations have already pledged support for this year’s Charity Walk, including Centenary Bank, PAX Insurance, Statewide Insurance Company, Joint Medical Stores, Radio Sapientia, and Ways Group of Companies, among others.

The organizers have appealed to individuals, families, and corporate partners to join the walk and contribute towards securing a brighter future for vulnerable children.
