Police in Kampala have arrested four suspects and recovered two vehicles and a stolen motorcycle in connection with the aggravated robbery and murder of a boda boda rider in Prison Village, Bugolobi Parish, Nakawa Division.
The victim was found critically injured by the roadside on June 30 after reportedly being struck with a blunt object during the attack.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said the victim died shortly after police arrived at the scene. The body was later taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
According to Owoyesigyire, investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly used a motor vehicle, registration number UA 522BG, to knock down the rider before stealing his motorcycle.
He said a joint security operation conducted on July 2 led to the recovery of the suspected getaway vehicle, the stolen motorcycle and another vehicle, registration number UBR 680Q.
The suspects have been identified as Baziila Hassan, also known as Kiyinji, Joh. Kawadwa, an adult female and a juvenile.
Owoyesigyire said investigations are ongoing to establish the role of each suspect and identify any additional accomplices linked to the crime.
