Archbishop Ssemogerere Urges Students to Uphold Catholic Values, Launches School Development Plan at St. John’s Muduuma

The Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere

The Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, has called on learners in Catholic-founded schools to remain steadfast in the Catholic values instilled in them, urging them to carry these principles throughout their lives wherever they go.

He emphasized that the Catholic Church plays a vital role in shaping responsible citizens who uphold moral integrity and safeguard the teachings and reputation of the Church.

Archbishop Ssemogerere strongly condemned the rising cases of social evils in communities, including drug abuse, murder, abortion, and other forms of unlawful conduct, warning that such practices erode the moral fabric of society.

He made the remarks while presiding over celebrations marking 44 years of academic excellence at St. John’s Secondary School, Muduuma.

The Archbishop further encouraged students to embrace humility, noting that it is a key virtue that commands respect and enables individuals to serve their communities more effectively.

During the Holy Mass, he also administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 15 students, urging them to follow the example of the school’s patron saint, Saint John the Baptist, by living lives grounded in faith, integrity, and service.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Harriet Ssenkaali, Commissioner for Private Schools at the Ministry of Education and Sports, and Nicholas Kiruma Sseggobe, the Education Secretary of the Kampala Archdiocese, among other guests.

Prior to the Mass, Archbishop Ssemogerere commissioned the school’s 10-year master plan, which includes the reconstruction of a girls’ dormitory destroyed by fire and the completion of a boys’ dormitory currently under construction.
