Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission, Nyombi Thembo

The Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission, Nyombi Thembo, has called on innovators to prioritize real market needs in order to drive meaningful economic transformation.

Speaking at the launch of the 10th National Conference on Communications, which will be held at Makerere University from June 24th to 26th, Thembo stressed that innovation should respond to the everyday challenges faced by citizens, businesses, and institutions.

He noted that the conference provides a key platform for turning ideas into practical solutions by testing them against real industry demands and ensuring they are relevant to current economic and social needs.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Principal of the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology, Kizito Maria Kasule, urged increased efforts to inspire young people to engage in research and innovation from an early stage, saying this is critical for building a strong culture of creativity and problem-solving in the country.
