Police Heighten Security in Kampala Ahead of Easter Celebrations

Deputy Public Relations Officer Luke Owoyesigyire

The Kampala Metropolitan Police has assured the public of enhanced security measures ahead of the Easter celebrations, urging residents to remain vigilant as movement across Kampala increases.

In a statement issued by Deputy Public Relations Officer Luke Owoyesigyire, police noted that while Easter is a time of reflection and hope, it can also present opportunities for opportunistic crime, particularly in crowded areas.

Authorities, working with other security agencies, have deployed personnel to key locations including churches, entertainment venues, and transport hubs as part of intelligence-led operations.

Although no specific threats have been identified, the public has been encouraged to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious activity.

Owoyesigyire advised residents to avoid displaying valuables, ensure their homes are secure when traveling, and adhere to traffic regulations.

Traffic enforcement has also been intensified to curb reckless driving during the festive period.

Emergency lines have been shared, with the police reaffirming their commitment to ensuring a safe and peaceful Easter season for all Ugandans.
