The government has ordered the immediate closure of Ggaba Early Childhood Development Centre following the fatal stabbing of four children in Kampala.
State Minister for Higher Education, John Chrysostom Muyingo, visited the school and expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of the four children—one girl and three boys—allegedly killed by a suspect believed to be a local resident.
He conveyed condolences to the bereaved families, teachers, and the nation, describing the incident as a moment of profound grief.
The deceased children have been identified as Keisha Alungat, Gideon Oteko, Odeka Ryan, and Ignitious Seruyange, all aged between one and two-and-a-half years.
Muyingo confirmed that the suspect, Christopher Okello Onyum, had been arrested and assured the public that justice would be pursued.
He also noted that the school is registered under the Kampala Capital City Authority.
The minister directed parents to immediately pick up their children and ordered the closure of the centre pending investigations.
He added that the government will provide counseling support to affected families and undertake a review of safety measures in schools.
