The Assistant Bishop of Kampala Anglican Diocese, Jackson Fredrick Baalwa, has urged Christians to embrace a life of sacrifice for the benefit of others during a public Way of the Cross procession in Kampala.
Representing the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, Bishop Baalwa led Anglican faithful from All Saints Cathedral Nakasero to Old Kampala Primary School playground in reflection on Christ’s suffering.
During the procession, he called for perseverance, reminding believers that Jesus Christ humbled Himself, suffered, and died for humanity.
He encouraged Ugandans to prioritize the common good, warning that a better city and nation cannot be built if individuals focus only on personal interests.
Bishop Baalwa also offered prayers for blessings in people’s families, businesses, and personal lives.
Meanwhile, former minister Miria Matembe urged citizens to join religious leaders in fighting injustice by preaching a gospel that transforms lives.
