Joseph Franzelli, Bishop Emeritus of Lira Diocese, has called on Catholic institutions to actively generate and share content from their services to support church media outlets.
The appeal was made during the opening of the fifth day of the 16th Annual National Caritas Week celebrations in Jinja.
Speaking at Speke Courts Hotel, Bishop Franzelli, who chairs the Social Communication Commission of the Uganda Episcopal Conference, highlighted that outlets like Uganda Catholic Television and Radio Sapientia face financial strain due to limited institutional support.
He noted that UCTV currently lacks up to 67% of the required local content, as mandated by the Uganda Communications Commission, negatively impacting its revenue base.
Bishop Franzelli emphasized that dioceses and departments must document and publicize their activities.
Improved communication, he said, would enhance evangelization, attract financial and community support, and foster unity among Catholics nationwide.
