Ugandan Muslim Leaders Condemn War on Iran, Call for Dialogue and Global Peace

Sheikh Khabu Lule, the District Kadhi for Kabale, Rukiga, and Rubanda, has condemned the ongoing US-Israel military operations against Iran, urging dialogue and reconciliation to end the conflict.

Speaking during Eid al-Fitr prayers at Masjid Jaamia Kirigime in Kabale District, Lule described the war as unnecessary and unjustifiable, highlighting the killing of women and children, which he said contravenes Islamic teachings that prohibit targeting civilians.

He emphasized that Islam promotes peaceful coexistence with non-Muslims and allows only self-defense against aggression. Lule called on all parties—the US, Israel, and Iran—to seek reconciliation and restore peace in the region.

Meanwhile, the District Kadhi of Tooro, Sheikh Abdul Hakim, encouraged Muslims to embrace forgiveness and mercy, describing these virtues as essential for fostering harmony among people and with the environment.

Reflecting on global conflicts, Hakim cited the war in Iran, tensions in Israel and the US, and the suffering of civilians in Gaza as stark reminders of the devastating consequences when compassion is abandoned.
