The Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU), the Interfaith Women Network, and the International Justice Mission (IJM) have partnered to end violence against women and girls in Uganda.
The announcement comes days ahead of International Women’s Day, slated for Sunday, 8th March 2026.
During a one-day engagement held at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) headquarters in Old Kampala, Msgr. Charles Kasibante, Chairman of the IRCU Board, described violence against women and girls as a persistent evil and a major challenge that requires urgent action.
Msgr. Kasibante called on religious leaders to champion initiatives promoting peaceful and responsible families, emphasizing the protection of women and girls.
He further noted that if children were taught proper values and norms at the family level, society could be safeguarded from human rights violations such as abductions and killings, which continue to plague Uganda.
