The Government of Uganda has begun implementing a bilateral visa waiver agreement with Egypt, allowing holders of diplomatic and service passports to travel between the two countries without visas.
Simon Peter Mundeyi, spokesperson for Uganda’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, confirmed that the agreement came into effect on 17th February 2026.
Under the arrangement, Egyptian nationals holding diplomatic or service passports can enter and stay in Uganda for up to 90 days without a visa, while Ugandan nationals with the same passport categories can travel to Egypt under the same terms.
The exemption is strictly limited to holders of diplomatic and service passports. Authorities said the agreement is expected to strengthen bilateral relations and promote cooperation in sectors of mutual interest.
This move follows Uganda’s earlier implementation of a similar visa waiver with the United Arab Emirates, part of ongoing efforts to facilitate diplomatic travel, deepen international ties, and enhance cooperation.
