Museveni Meets MTN Uganda Leadership, Highlights Telecom Sector’s Role in National Transformation

PRESIDENT MUSEVENI MEETS MTN UGANDA LEADERSHIP

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has met with the Chairman of MTN Uganda’s Board of Directors, Charles Mbire, to discuss the strategic role of the telecommunications sector in advancing Uganda’s socio-economic transformation, fostering innovation, and enhancing service delivery nationwide.

The meeting, held at State House Entebbe, was also attended by MTN Uganda Chief Executive Officer Sylvia Mulinge and General Manager for Corporate Services Enid Edroma.

During the discussions, President Museveni underscored the critical contribution of digital connectivity and fintech platforms in advancing government priorities. He noted their importance in expanding access to financial services, improving efficiency in public service delivery, and enabling grassroots economic participation.

The President commended MTN Uganda for its continued investment and contribution to national development, describing telecommunications and digital financial services as key enablers of the country’s broader transformation agenda.

He expressed satisfaction with the effective utilization of telecom and fintech infrastructure to drive socio-economic progress and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen digital inclusion, innovation, and nationwide connectivity for all Ugandans.
