The opposition Justice Forum (JEEMA) has announced plans to take the 2026 general election results to court, citing widespread irregularities and non-compliance with electoral laws.
Party Secretary General Muhammad Kateregga made the announcement during a press conference today.
Kateregga said the party is seeking a comprehensive audit of the elections, arguing that the process was neither free nor fair.
He further alleged that the Electoral Commission (EC) failed to act independently, leading to militarization of the elections, vote bribery, and other irregularities.
The party is also requesting that the court bar the military from participating in the electoral process, impose strict penalties on returning officers who announce fraudulent results, and instead direct citizens to seek legal redress.
Kateregga called on Ugandans to support JEEMA by providing additional evidence of election malpractice.
