President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has consoled the family of the Ssabalangira of Buganda, the late Godfrey Musanje Kikulwe, with a cash contribution of Shs20 million.

In a condolence message delivered by the State Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Joyce Nabbosa Ssebuggwawo, during the burial ceremony held in Kasawo, Mukono District, President Museveni described the late Ssabalangira as an honest, dedicated and cooperative man.

Ssabalangira Musanje, who served in the position for 11 years, passed away earlier this week on Tuesday after a long illness at the age of 76.

In her remarks, Minister Ssebuggwawo urged mourners to nurture their children by instilling discipline and strong values so they may grow into responsible members of society.

She also described the late Ssabalangira as a close friend and a man of integrity who always kept his word.

Meanwhile, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has appointed Prince Frederick Sunday Kateregga as the Interim Ssabalangira, directing him to assume leadership of the Buganda Kingdom’s Royal Clan with immediate effect.

The announcement was made by the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, during the burial ceremony of the late Ssabalangira held yesterday in Kasawo, Mukono North, Mukono District.

Katikkiro Mayiga informed the heads of the royal lineage, locally known as ‘Abakulu b’Emituba’, the Royal Family, and mourners that the Kabaka who is currently abroad had instructed Prince Kateregga, previously the Deputy Ssabalangira, to lead the Royal Clan until a substantive Ssabalangira is officially appointed.
