Three Killed, 13 Injured in Head-On Collision on Luwero

At least three people were killed on the spot and 13 others injured in a head-on collision along the Luwero–Butalangu road in Nakaseke District.

The accident occurred on Monday morning at around 8:00 a.m. at Kasana Village near Kiwoko Town Council.

A taxi, registration number UA 746CH, traveling from Ngoma Town towards Luwero Town, reportedly lost control and collided head-on with a truck, registration number UBJ 081B, which was heading in the opposite direction.

According to the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson, Sam Twiineamazima, three passengers died instantly while 13 others sustained injuries.

Police identified the deceased as Joy Kusigwire, 22, a resident of Kyabiguuru Village; Nuwenyine Nathan, also a resident of Kyabiguuru Village in Nakaseke District both passengers in the taxi and Martin Kigongo, 43, who was a passenger in the truck.

Twiineamazima said the injured include nine men, two women, and two children, though their identities had not yet been established by press time.

The injured victims were rushed to Kiwoko Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Nakaseke Hospital for postmortem examinations.

Police investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
