President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has highlighted the benefits of Uganda’s bilateral relationship with China, noting significant growth in trade between the two countries.
He revealed that Uganda’s exports to China have risen to USD 138 million, describing the achievement as notable, with potential for further growth.
President Museveni also welcomed the Chinese government’s decision to remove taxes on Ugandan exports, saying the move will boost trade and support wealth creation in the country.
The remarks were made while the President bid farewell to the outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Zhang Lizhong, who paid a courtesy call at Museveni’s country home in Kisozi, Gomba District.
During the meeting, Museveni pledged continued support for China in promoting mutual growth and development.
Ambassador Lizhong, in turn, expressed gratitude to President Museveni and the Ugandan government for the cooperation and support extended to him throughout his tenure.
