Retired General Mugisha Muntu, the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate, has announced he won’t challenge the 2026 presidential election results in court but is ready to support any candidate who will go with clear evidence.
The Electoral Commission (EC) declared Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni the winner of Thursday’s election after gaining 72% of the vote against 24% for his closest challenger Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu who has condemned the process and described it as fake results and ballot stuffing.
Now speaking at the ANT party headquarters in Bukoto, Muntu cited lack of declaration forms as a major obstacle, saying everyone witnessed that declaration of results were not transparent but ANT has no Evidence to challenge it.
Muntu is instead focusing on building party structures to ensure better representation at polling stations nationwide next time.
He urged other opposition figures who failed in elections to do the same, instead of sitting and watch the space but start to build efforts which will help to change political leadership of the country.
