Kiwoko Town Council Raises Alarm Over Rising Theft and Burglary Cases

Thefts and Burglaries

The leadership of Kiwoko Town Council in Nakaseke District has expressed concern over a growing wave of thefts and burglaries affecting several villages in the area.

The alert was raised by Keziron Lubowa, the Kiwoko Central Local Council II Chairperson, while addressing Local Council I chairpersons and residents in the town.

Lubowa described the situation as worrying, noting that criminal activity has intensified in recent weeks.

He cited an incident in Butikwa Village during the recent festive season, when burglars broke into the home of a resident identified as Kagumba in broad daylight while many locals were attending a burial ceremony, making off with various household items.

Lubowa also reported that shops along Kamusiime Road in Kiwoko Town Council were broken into, resulting in the loss of merchandise, though the total value was unspecified.

He urged residents particularly those running businesses to consider hiring security guards to protect their property, highlighting that the police currently lack sufficient manpower to provide security across the entire area.
