With just 10 days to go before the elections, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, Archbishop of Kampala, has called for peace during the upcoming polls.
He made the appeal on January 4, 2026, during the annual celebrations of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix (IHMR) at Ggogonya.
The Archbishop spoke about the importance of unity, peace, and tolerance during and after the elections.
He said some people are worried for their safety and even thinking of leaving the country, but this fear is unnecessary if everyone respects the people’s choice.
He encouraged voters to choose leaders who are trustworthy, patriotic, and deserving, and asked the Electoral Commission to make sure the elections are peaceful and fair.
The celebration was also a special moment for the religious community.
Three sisters made their final vows, dedicating their lives fully to Christ.
Four sisters were honored for 25 years of service, and Sr. Maria Angelica Nabakooza was celebrated for her remarkable 75 years of religious life.
Archbishop Ssemogerere praised the sisters for their dedication and urged them to continue a life of prayer, community, and joyful service.
Sr. Maria Speranza Namusisi, Superior General of the IHMR Sisters, congratulated the sisters who took final vows and thanked them for their dedication to restoring human dignity.
She encouraged all sisters to keep their faith strong and their devotion to Jesus alive.
This year’s celebration carried the theme: “In Love and in Union with Mother Mary, Here I Am, Oh Lord; I Come to Do Your Will,” showing the sisters’ strong faith and commitment to God.
