Police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke

Police have opened a General Inquiry File to investigate an incident in Gulu over the weekend, where security operatives were accused of using sticks to beat supporters of National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, during his campaign.

Rusoke Kituuma, the police spokesperson, confirmed that authorities are urging individuals with relevant evidence to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.

He further emphasized that the involvement of other security agencies in the matter does not undermine the police’s mandate.

Kituuma reassured the public that the police remain responsible for overseeing the investigation.

Additionally, he affirmed that any security operatives found acting outside of the prescribed orders and operational guidelines will be held accountable for their actions.
