The Opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) and is running to court to challenge the Electoral Commission (EC) decision of nullifying their candidate for Busiro East Mathias Walukaga.
Today, EC has de-nominated Walukaga on grounds that his academic qualifications are not valid.
Now addressing journalists at party headquarters David Lewis Lubongoya the party secretary general disclosed that they have decided to run to court to seek justice because EC has no authority to disqualify candidates.
He adds that they want court to pronounce if EC has authority to disqualify any candidate or it’s the National Council of Higher education.
Lubongoya says this is beyond education issues instead politicis because no any NRM candidate has been disqualified but EC is focusing to NUP candidates now totalling to 4 who have been disqualified.
However Lubongoya calls upon party members to remain calm and come out in big numbers on 15/January/2026 for the protest vote.
Meanwhile Mathias Walukaga has also urged his supporters to remain united and wait for the party position.
