Kasese Diocese next year’s animating diocese for the June 3rd Uganda Martyrs Day Celebrations at the Catholic Shrine Namugongo has lunched fundraising drives aimed at raising Shs 4.5 Billion that will facilitate the celebrations.

The fundraising drive was officially launched and blessed by the Bishop of Kasse Diocese Rt. Rev Francis Aquirinus Kibira at Sheraton Hotel Kampala where he appealed to all the faithful, institutions, benefactors and people of good to support the preparations for Uganda Martyrs Day celebrations in the year 2026.

Bishop  Kibira revealed that out of the shs 4.5 Billion budgeted for the smooth organization of the event government has pledged over shs 2.5 Billion  to support among others better preparations for the ever increasing numbers of pilgrims who require extensive Liturgical planning.

He however noted that Uganda Martyrs Day remains one of the most profound expressions of Catholic Devotion on the African Continent, drawing millions of People who are seeking for spiritual renewal, spiritual strength through the intercession and witness of the martyrs of Uganda.

Bishop Kibira however confirmed that they have invited the Diocese of Butembo – Beni from Democratic Republic of Congo to join them in the celebrations.

He also noted that there is also a Parish Priest from German who has requested him to bring 30 pilgrims from his parish in German who would also like to participate in the choir that is to animate the liturgical celebrations.

More than Shs 100 million was collected during this fundraising Dinner under the Theme; “Christ is alive in You and in me”.

Kasese Diocese comes back to animate the Uganda Martyrs day celebrations at Namugongo after 20 years and they  look forward to inspire a national and International spiritual awakening, especially at a time when families and communities are in disarray with  young people seem to have lost love, faith and hope in life.

Centenary Bank Managing Director of Centenary Bank Fabian Kasi handed a contribution of Shs 70 millions to the Diocese through the ordinary Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kasese to help in the preparations.

Centenary Bank has also launched a suite of new options specifically designed for Martyrs day Contribution to Kasese Diocese to make giving easier, more accessible and more inclusive as the General Manager Cooperate Communications and Marketing Beatrice Lugalambi explains.
