UPDF Provides Free Medical Services and Community Support Ahead of Tarehe Sita Celebrations

UPDF Provides Free Medical Services

A team of medical personnel from the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has set up camp at Chahafi HC IV in Gisha Village, Kisoro Municipality, to provide free medical services as part of the 45th Tarehe Sita celebrations in the Kigezi sub-region.

The static medical and surgical camp, running from December 2nd to 7th, 2025, offers a range of services including treatment for malaria, hernia, and minor surgical procedures.

Residents also benefit from free dental and eye checkups, male circumcision, HIV/AIDS screening and counseling, antenatal services, and general medical care.

Col. Dr. Nobert Kabugo, the team leader, expressed appreciation for the large turnout of patients and lauded local leaders for mobilizing the community.

He urged residents to maintain clean environments and avoid cooking near sleeping areas to prevent malaria and respiratory infections.

Dr. Nkurunziza John Bosco, in charge of Chahafi HC IV, commended the UPDF medics for their professionalism and appealed to the government to continue building a skilled army to serve the nation.

Meanwhile, another UPDF team from the Land Forces headquarters in Bombo conducted a cleanup exercise in Bamunanika Town, Luweero District, as part of Tarehe Sita activities.

They also held a free medical camp at Bamunanika Health Centre III, focusing on patients with non-communicable diseases.

Maj. Peter Mugisa, Public Relations Officer for the Land Forces in Bombo, explained that the anniversary activities were rescheduled to avoid clashing with the upcoming elections, where Ugandans will vote for the president and Members of Parliament on January 15, 2025.

Lt. Col. Muzamir Kulabako, attached to the Bombo Joint UPDF Services and officiating the launch of the week-long activities in Luweero, said the army plans to intensify community sensitization on the importance of proper sanitation.
