Museveni Pledges International Airport, Railway, and Infrastructure Boost for Kasese

General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni

National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has promised to construct an international airport and a standard gauge railway in Kasese District to stimulate tourism and business activities.

President Museveni made the announcement during the launch of his campaign in the Rwenzori sub-region at Nyakasanga Playgrounds in Kasese District.

He noted that the high tourism traffic in Kasese and the wider Rwenzori region necessitates additional infrastructure, including an international airport to attract more visitors, and a railway system to facilitate business operations.

In addition, Museveni confirmed plans to expand electricity and water distribution to underserved areas of Kasese District.

The president also highlighted several roads slated for reconstruction under a massive infrastructure development plan for the Rwenzori sub-region.

These include the Kikorongo-Bwera Road, Kasese-Kirembe Road, and Bundibugyo-Fort Portal Road, aligning with ongoing works on the Mityana-Mubende-Kyenjojo-Kabarore-Fort Portal Road, whose construction he vowed to expedite.

Museveni further warned local leaders against scattered planning, noting that it hinders development progress.
