National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has pledged significant improvements to the road network in Rukungiri and Mitooma Districts.
Speaking during an NRM Presidential campaign rally at Kirambi-Ruhinda Market Grounds in Mitooma District, Museveni outlined key infrastructural projects set to begin in his next term in office.
The first major project will involve the extension of the Ishaka-Kashenshero tarmac road, which will pass through Mitooma District and continue into Rukungiri.
Additionally, the President promised to upgrade the Bwizibwera/Nyakambu and Rukungiri roads, further enhancing the region’s connectivity.
Museveni also highlighted plans for the final phase of electricity expansion, which will bring power to the remaining three sub-counties in Mitooma, completing the last mile of electricity distribution across the district.
He emphasized that these developments are part of a broader vision to improve infrastructure in the area.
In his address, President Museveni noted the significant progress Mitooma District has made during the NRM’s leadership, pointing to improvements in education and healthcare.
The district currently has 109 government primary schools, 16 government secondary schools, a district general hospital, and health centers in each parish and sub-county.
The President also announced a Shs 360 billion initiative aimed at revitalizing Uganda’s tea sector, which will be accessible to tea farmers across the region.
He encouraged the people of Mitooma to take advantage of this initiative to boost tea production and improve their livelihoods.
