Boda Boda riders interrupt Museveni’s campaign in Butalejja

President Yoweri Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni has emphasized the safeguarding of protected areas to save the environment.

In his campaign rally today in a town at Butalejja play grounds President Museveni has said growing of rice in wetlands is not encouraged as it destructs the water table.

His campaigning speech has been interrupted by groups of youth some of them boda boda riders who wanted to capture his attention for support.

He directed his aides to take their contacts to have their issues worked on.

Museveni re-emphasised the consolidation of peace and stability achieved under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) by embracing wealth creation and supporting government programmes that ensure inclusive development.

The NRM Presidential flag bearer reminded the people of Kibuku that the party’s first and most significant contribution to Uganda has been peace, which has laid the foundation for all other progress.

President Museveni said peace has enabled the government to expand economic and social infrastructure, including roads, electricity, schools and hospitals, thus bringing services closer to the people.

The President explained that the government’s plan is to ensure that every parish has a primary school and every sub-county has a secondary school so that no child is left behind.
