The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has deployed a total of 59,890 field personnel across the country to manage the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), which began this afternoon with the briefing of candidates.
Daniel Odongo, the Executive Director of UNEB, shared this information during a press briefing at the UNEB headquarters in Kampala. He confirmed that 817,885 candidates have registered for this year’s PLE, including 389,529 males and 428,356 females.
Of the total candidates, 522,039 are from government schools under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) program, while 295,846 are from private schools.
Additionally, 61 candidates are inmates from Upper Prison School in Luzira, with 7 females and 54 males among them.
Odongo also issued a stern warning to both candidates and teachers against engaging in any form of examination malpractice, urging invigilators to remain vigilant in ensuring a fair and transparent examination process.
The exams will officially begin on Monday, 3rd November 2025, with candidates sitting for Mathematics and Social Studies, followed by Science and English on Tuesday, 4th November 2025.
