Chief Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny Dollo has emphasized the urgent need to promote and implement African Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms within Uganda’s judicial system.
He highlighted that only about 10% of disputes reach formal courts, underscoring the importance of relying on informal resolution methods.
The Chief Justice made these remarks while presiding over the launch of the judiciary’s Performance Enhancement Tool (PET) at the Supreme Court Building Conference Hall in Kampala.
PET is a web-based performance management system designed to automate, streamline, and standardize the appraisal of judicial officers and administrative staff.
The tool aims to boost efficiency, transparency, fairness, and accountability in human resource management across the judiciary.
Chief Justice Owiny Dollo noted the judiciary’s commitment to innovating service delivery and stressed the importance of fair stakeholder engagement in utilizing the new ICT-driven appraisal system to enhance judicial services in Uganda.
He also applauded the Government of Uganda for supporting the development of this innovative tool.
