NUP Candidates Walukagga and Saazi Respond to Critics Ahead of Elections

NUP flag bearer for Busiro East, Mathias Walukagga

NUP flag bearer for Busiro East, Mathias Walukagga, has dismissed critics mocking his English-speaking abilities.

Walukagga emphasized that everyone is entitled to their opinions but confirmed that he holds a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education and is currently pursuing a degree at St. Lawrence University, Kampala.

Speaking confidently at the party headquarters shortly after his nomination papers were stamped by Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya, Walukagga assured his constituents that he is ready to represent them once entrusted with their votes.

Meanwhile, incumbent MP for Gomba East, Godfrey Saazi, laughed off rumors suggesting he might lose the NUP ticket amid social media propaganda.

The speculation arose after the party denied the nomination card to Flavia Namulindwa, alongside circulated videos showing Saazi in a meeting with General Salim Saleh which some critics labeled as hypocrisy.

Responding to the allegations, Saazi stated that he does not deny meeting Gen. Saleh, explaining that the meeting was related to his business interests in Gomba East and occurred some time ago.

He emphasized that the videos have no bearing on his political career.

Saazi made these remarks at the NUP party headquarters after his nomination papers were stamped by Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya.
