23 medals to be awarded for distinguished services on 63rd Uganda’s Independence

All is set for Uganda’s celebrations of the 63rd Independence Day tomorrow 9th October 2025, at the Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala. 

The theme for this year’s celebration is “63 years of independence, a reason to double our efforts in sustaining a united and progressive nation.

In her address to the press at Uganda Media Centre (UMC) Kampala,  the minister for presidency Milly Babirye Babalanda confirmed that  president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be the chief guests and he will award 23 medals to distinguished individuals for their contributions to the country.

She highlighted various achievements ever since Uganda got Independence in 1962.

The secretary for presidential awards committee Hajjat Malole Zaminah noted out of the 23 individuals who will receive these medals, 8 are females, and 15 are males who were selected from all regions of the country and will rewarded medals of various categories.
