The National Unity Platform (NUP) Tribunal Committee has extended its deadline to receive petitions from aggrieved parliamentary aspirants to Thursday, October 2, 2025.

The extension follows a high number of complaints from party members who were denied party flags in the recently announced list of NUP parliamentary flag bearers, released on Monday, September 29, 2025.

Addressing the media at the party headquarters in Makerere Kavule, Tribunal Committee member Fatuma Cassimu confirmed that 26 petitions were received on the first day, September 30, with an additional 15 submitted by mid-day on October 1.

More submissions are expected before the extended deadline.

“To ensure that every aggrieved member is heard, we have decided to extend the petition deadline by one more day,” Cassimu stated.

She also revealed that the tribunal has set up an email address to accommodate petitions from members who are unable to travel to the party headquarters, especially those from distant locations.

The tribunal was constituted immediately after the release of the flag bearer list, with a mandate to engage with dissatisfied aspirants and address their concerns through a formal review process.
