The Kampala City Festival has been rescheduled from October 5th to October 12th due to security concerns.
Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director, Sharifah Buzeki, said the adjustment was made to safeguard residents and visitors.
She noted that while the festival had initially been planned as a pre-activity for Uganda’s 63rd Independence celebrations on October 9th, the new date will still allow Ugandans to celebrate the city’s culture and creativity in safety.
Police spokesperson Kituma Rusoke emphasized the importance of vigilance, urging attendees to cooperate with security checks at Kololo Independence Grounds and to report any suspicious activity.
He added that more than 300 police officers will be deployed to secure the event, alongside traffic diversions and thorough screening of all participants.
Organizers say this year’s festival will highlight Kampala’s culture, innovation, and sustainability while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
